Oh, so right- especially for us folks in the Rocky Mountains- The campground I was at this weekend was *maybe* 20 miles west of Denver, CO and as soon as I hit the first windy road in the mountains, I lost cellphone coverage. Alerts to my cellphone from scripts and such became stable once I hit Blackhawk/Central City area, (casino's- bookies would NOT allow bad coverage there ya' know! :)) Up and down the front range of Colorado, cell phone coverage is pretty stable for 3G, but once you go west into the mountains, you need a bit of a boost to get much of anything... :( Kellyn Pedersen Sr. Database Administrator I-Behavior Inc. http://www.linkedin.com/in/kellynpedersen www.dbakevlar.blogspot.com "Go away before I replace you with a very small and efficient shell script..." --- On Tue, 6/1/10, Goulet, Richard <Richard.Goulet@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Goulet, Richard <Richard.Goulet@xxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: RE: ot - laptop for dba To: jpiwowar@xxxxxxxxx, development@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: kjped1313@xxxxxxxxx, andrew.kerber@xxxxxxxxx, cicciuxdba@xxxxxxxxx, girlgeek@xxxxxxxx, oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Tuesday, June 1, 2010, 7:41 AM 3G??? There are places in the US where it's still impossible to get a simple cell phone signal, never mind 3G. The major challenge is getting a reliable signal in rural and small-town areas. That's why Kellyn's "wifi campground" use case is such a bonus. :) Regards, John P. (Strange spelling? iPhone's fault.
