major deletions to not fail the 80% rule.. Manual standby was unsupported in 7.3.4 but was possible as part of "recovery". I learned this by playing when I was testing my recovery scripts.... I was able to just keep handing the recovery process archived logs that were past the date of the crash and Oracle merrily kept up.
