RE: ocfs2/oracleasm on Red Hat 4

Karl, I guess you happened to check just at the time these files were being
posted. They weren't there when I checked. Thanks,
Julio

For the ASM:
----------------

You can go to this link
http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/linux/asmlib/index.html
And see that the link for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 AS was last updated last
April 01
If you're on AMD64 / Intel em64t Architecture, You'll see these

Library and Tools

    * oracleasm-support-2.1.3-1.el4.x86_64.rpm
    * oracleasmlib-2.0.4-1.el4.x86_64.rpm

Drivers for kernel 2.6.9-89.EL

    * oracleasm-2.6.9-89.ELxenU-2.0.5-1.el4.x86_64.rpm
    * oracleasm-2.6.9-89.ELsmp-2.0.5-1.el4.x86_64.rpm
    * oracleasm-2.6.9-89.ELlargesmp-2.0.5-1.el4.x86_64.rpm
    * oracleasm-2.6.9-89.EL-debuginfo-2.0.5-1.el4.x86_64.rpm
    * oracleasm-2.6.9-89.EL-2.0.5-1.el4.x86_64.rpm

ASMlib issue can be solved by installing new driver or linking to the old kernel
  1) If there is an ASMLib driver for the new kernel version, install the new
version and remove the old one. This is the best option
  2) If there is no ASMLib driver for the new kernel version, ASMLib can be
linked to use the old kernel, this solution is based on oracleasm_debug_link
usage Note:462618.1

For OCFS2:
-----------------

Go to this link
http://oss.oracle.com/projects/ocfs2/files/RedHat/RHEL4/x86_64/1.2.9-1/ for the
ocfs2 rpm (latest is 2.6.9-89.EL)
and this link
http://oss.oracle.com/projects/ocfs2-tools/files/RedHat/RHEL4/x86_64/1.2.7-1/
for ocfs2console and ocfs2-tools

Also for your SAN environment, if you upgrade your kernel, definitely you'll
have to download the appropriate powerpath (EMC) version for the new kernel.
And other dependencies you'll have to check..
