My reply to this got tagged for over quoting.  Don't know if it will ever 
surface, so i'll correct my error and send this.  Sorry if it duplicates:

Like I said, I'm a beginner with OEM.  I'm an overworked, but capable 
dba/sysadmin.  I've just been using dbconsole for the operators since it was 
not a struggle to manage.  1484775.1 seems to change that game.  Another 
platform I manage, postgresql, is really well documented and very friendly.  
They tell you what you need to know to manage the product once you own it:

I see nothing like this overview of required management tasks with OEM.   Most 
software products are just ticking time bombs if you don't care and feed them.  
There needs to be an entry point and overview of the product management tasks 
that lead to the details in the larger documentation like the postgresql people 
have provided, imho.  Sounds like there is a class being developed to cover 
this idea.  For now, I'll just wander through the docs and try to piece it 
together:
