As Windows does asynch IO by default, there is probably not too much benefit in setting IO slaves.
Thanks a lot Anjo for your answer, but I'm not enough lucid to understand your answer. My problem resides in the fact db_writer_processes has as default 1 on my 10gr2 database, and I don't feel enough confident to change this configuration.
select name,value from v$parameter where name in ('db_writer_processes','dbwr_io_slaves') dbwr_io_slaves 0 db_writer_processes 1
I was reading in rman could be beneficial to set dbwr_io_slaves, I'm using a normal pc (one processor), no scsi or other special disk, using windows 2000, if you could extend your answer you'll be very helpful to me, I don't know too much about hardware, thanks again :).
