Re: database layout question

What you suggest sounds reasonable if the performance is what you expect.
I assume swap is on the 18G 15k disks.

We're gearing up on SAN-connected IA-32 boxes.  We find that the SAN is
significantly faster than internal drives, so I would (if I were you) plan
to check on that in your setup before committing on the
internal-vs-external allocation of the 144G devices.  Entry-level vs.
enterprise is significant, but our mini-SAN is still faster than our
internal storage.
