This all brings me to another, closely related point, which I actually asked
the list about a few months ago, but only heard crickets chirping.
Does anyone know of an open source package available for monitoring
dba_outstanding_alerts or the alert_que and sending emails? It seems like it
should be fairly easy to write, but I just haven't been able to find the time
yet.
Here are some basic docs on how to do it:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14231/manproc.htm#sthref727
And Metalink 271585.1 has an example, in case anyone else is feeling
adventurous and has some spare time.
Regards,
Brandon

Hi rich, i'd check the descriptions very carefully. I think that you
will find that emails count as a notification method and thus are
added cost.
