I would say it depends upon what your goal is.
Do you want a shelf reference to simply pick bits of info out when you
need it or will you be looking for something you would read cover to
cover and learn as you go. I always had the feeling that the O.Press
Handbook seemed to try to hard to be both. I must a admit a preference
for books from Apress over O.Press, Apress seem to attract the best
technical writers and editors, books you can read cover to cover and
retain a great deal of info, but that's just my personal preference.
