I'd be sort of (sorry) suspicious of such a large S_A_S a large P_A_T
might be more appropriate (even though that is twice in 2 minutes I've
agreed with support.

Ah. Unfortunately that limit is compiled in and shipped for a given
OS/release. I do not believe that you can change it. I have not
checked on the availability of a "large memory model" release for that
port, nor am I sure they bump sort area size max above 2G even for a
"large memory model" port.
