- RMAN clones databases NOT instances. So, cloning a single or a rac database is not different in concept, but there are some differences in the actual procedure mostly related to how your MML is configured.

- you can clone rac <--> single instance in any direction you like.
- Once clone is done, you can then configure the clone database to have any number of instances you like.
