RE: Tuning Unix kernel for Oracle/data warehouse

Second that and did some tuning of Oracle 9i on AIX a couple years ago.
Aside from my research and notes compiled over weeks of intense Red Bull
consumption, however, there were not many extensive, in-depth AIX
references.

In terms of capturing OS statistics and basic UNIX administration "Oracle 9i
UNIX Administration Handbook" covers administrating Oracle 9i on Solaris,
AIX, and HP-UX including performance tuning (extending STATSPACK to collect
OS stats for all three platforms) but the book, although very useful,
doesn't delve into the AIX kernel.

With regard to the suggested link in the prior thread I found the IBM
Redbooks to be some of the more useful references.

Also try this link which is a free tool for monitoring AIX performance.:

http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/eserver/articles/analyze_aix/

There is also SarCheck:

http://www.sarcheck.com/scaix.htm

SarCheck provides report of raw AIX performance statistics along with
recommendations as to what tuning parameters to tweak.

Hi Leslie

Alomari's book is excellent. The problem is that not only he doesn't =
cover 9i but in addition AFAIK it doesn't cover AIX! Therefore not the =
right choice for you...=20

I never read it (I'm working very rarely on AIX...), anyway a link that =
can be useful:
