Test for blob format?

I'm in the process of migrating an application from Solaris to Linux. The
data includes blobs. The vendor provides utilities for converting these
blobs. Does anyone know of a method for verifying whether a blob is in
big-endian or little-endian format? I'm asking the vendor as well, but it
would appreciate any alternatives.
