Hi April-

That Tech Stack Validation Utility is a major pain in the butt. Probably more
than your thumb is at
the moment.

I forwarded this email to our DBA who has been fighting this for a few months.
Maybe she can offer
you some ideas. She'll be back in the office on Tuesday.

In the process of upgrading from 11.5.8 (new install on aix) to 11.5.9 I had
to install and run the Technology Validation Utility to make sure that I
have the minimum requirements. (metalink note 240744.1)

The utility says

Install this patch
install that patch
this fails
this warning
install this patch

DO NOT proceed with the next steps until you have ALLPASS in the summary

I TRIED to install the patches and guess what... Oracle thinks (on the left
hand) that I am lacking and at the same time (on the right hand) that at
least the first three things that I am "lacking" in have already been
installed.

Great...

WIP today

I need to know if anyone else has had this nifty utility tell them one thing
and the patches tell them something else and if I should believe one over
the other. Analyst is WIPing for over 2 days and I sit here with my thumb
up my... whatever... trying to figure out what to do.

Help?
