RE: TNSNAMES Management

Well, I have written a pl/sql function that generates the TNSNAMES file,
it needs to be run as a DBA and you have to create the
$ORACLE_HOME/network/admin directory, but it works rather well. It uses
a dblink to a central database that has a table with all the info of all
the databases and a table that says which database should be included in
the tnsnames of each server... it's a bit boring to set up, but once
it's up an running it's just a call to a pl/sql procedure to modify the
data. I've also created an APEX interface for this package... perhaps
you can take your time and do it as well... in the long run it saves a
LOT of time.

Subject: TNSNAMES Management

Folks,

I'm looking for what people use today now that Onames has become
history. This is a multi location within and outside the US and
managing TNSNAMES.ORA files is well a PAIN. I'm especially interested
in anyone who has or is using TnsManager from Andrew Barry
(http://www.shutdownabort.com/tnsmanager/
<http://www.shutdownabort.com/tnsmanager/> ), especially with regard to
support.
