Wow! You really, really want to remove those old backups! Is there
a strong reason or do you just like to clean things up?
You don't say if you were using RMAN with a catalog or in
controlfile mode. I have had serious problems attempting to use a
different SID than RMAN is aware of. You are right that the DBID is
also critical.
