Rich,

Couple of things,

1. You need to set  TDU (Transport Data Unit) along with SDU. In the
tns and listener files, set the TDU along with SDU
   (TDU =8192)
     (SDU=8192)

2. IF you are using service_names you will be setting the
DEFAULT_SDU_SIZE in the sqlnet.ora.
