Your database files are as of SCN 14169960053

SEQ# 119 covers the SCN range 14169955929 to 14169959172-1 which is *below*
the database files.

SEQ# 120 covers the SCN range 14169959172 to 14169962038-1. So, SEQ#120 can be
used.

You must specify UNTIL SEQUENCE 121 and not 120.

The specified UNTIL value is the upper non-inclusive value.

See
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/backup.112/e10643/rcmsubcl019.htm#i1000331
 :
"UNTIL SEQUENCE integer Specifies a redo log sequence number and thread as an
upper, noninclusive limit.
RMAN selects only files that it can use to restore or recover up to but not
including the specified sequence number."

Subject: RMAN Recovery - I'm missing a step or something

Here's the scenario:
We have a saved backup on disk of a test database we like to recover to from
time to time. I have the controlfile autobackup, and the necessary backup
pieces.

..............
Step 7: *Attempt* to Restore & Recover Database

RMAN> run
2> {
3> restore database until sequence 120;
4> recover database until sequence 120;
5> }

Step 8: Receive Errors

....
....
RMAN-06023: no backup or copy of datafile 27 found to restore
........

Step 11: Scratch head in confusion....

Anyone care to enlighten me on what I've seem to have forgotten?
