I agree with Niall. I'm surprised sometimes at the number of businesses
trusting their most critical database applications to run on Windows,
but they do and the majority of the time, they're very pleased with the
uptime and stability. I've seen quite a few Windows installs on the
traditional 32-bit Windows, several on x86-64 (IA64 or AMD64), but
haven't seen a single one on Itanium yet. I'll also note that apparently Windows/Itanium isn't that critical as Oracle has yet to produce that port for 11g. So, unless you want to be a year behind the rest of the world and root out all the platform-specific bugs yourself, I'm not sure I'd see the benefit of going to Windows/Itanium for Oracle just yet.
