Ok. Good thoughts and demo. After doing a review on this topic using 8i,9i,10g,
and 11g performance guides, these are my finidings...
1- 8i and 9i explicitly ask for these 2 params to be setup.
2- In 10g and 11g, these params were no longer mentioned. Even the linkes
included do not make this explicit request.
3- I ran my own testing this morning and saw the FBI being used as demo'd here.
Same conclusion.
4- since the query-rewrite-enabled defaults to true now, I had no issues.
However, was not sure if the integrity param needs changing and if 'enforced'
is any different than 'trusted' as far as FBI is concerned. The 9i docs
mentions that 'trusted' is required if index uses user-defined functions. If
only sql functions are used, 'enforced' is good enough.
For all pratical purposes, this is good for what I needed. I may experiment
with these settings later if I get a chance/time to do it.
Thank you all.
