we are running production databases 11.1.0.7 on AIX 5.3 and soon also on AIX
6.1.
the production database was rebuilt from an 8.0.5 database
11g offers lots of easy handles for finding performance improvements but on
the other hand my client also noticed that certain queries referencing views
that had the RULE hint ran three times faster than without the RULE. stats
were all up-to-date ansd not locked.
when can we RULE out the old optimizer?
