Actually, this is patently untrue. I've been involved both in transitioning
from Oracle to DB2 and from Oracle to SAP Hana. Both projects turned out just
fine. BTW, ora2pg is a great tool, I've been using it to migrate tables from
Oracle to Hana.
Postgres isn't a silver bullet but it can easily cover 80% of the Oracle
problem.
Even if I accepted the number, this isn't the numbers game. And partitioning is
still a deal breaker. Postgres partitioning is, essentially, the same
technology that Oracle has used in Oracle 7i, with the partition views.
