Re: Oracle on VMS?

Rich,

My first experience with Oracle was version 5.1 on a VAX cluster, and
I continued using VMS for 7 or 8 years. I used Oracle81 OPS on VMS
and it worked great. VMS clustering is, hands down, the best there
is.

The proposed data center design uses VMS host-based volume shadowing
across an intersite (there are two data centers about 18 miles apart,
each with its own VMS cluster) link that would give me a RAC cluster
with machines in two buildings. I wouldn't have to worry about Data
Guard, setting up two RAC configurations, etc. BUT VMS is a niche
platform, barely alive, and the prospects for adequate support from
Oracle are slim. That's why I'm balking.

Paul
