Thanks Robert for the Link as it will surely help in understandbing the concept
with Vmware. It is not showing hardware specification and even I goodle few
links which shows one environment setup and so want to get the help so that 5
User can work at the same time. If there is any particular Hardware Vendoe is
choosed and has no. and types of  NIC/HBA/Switch along with Shared Storage
name/Vendor, then it will surely help. I work with RAC but all of those are
setup by SA's and never get the chance to look the hardware in details.

Sanjay

I'm all for keeping things as simple as possible. In that light you might want
to consider Tim Hall's configuration for Oracle/RAC on his web site:

http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/11g/OracleDB11gR1RACInstallationOnOEL5UsingVMware.php

You could do individual installs on laptops (need at least 4gb of memory in my
experience here) or on a good server class system or two with individual VM's.
I'd want individual RAC VM's for each student if you are teaching
administration kinds of topics so they will not be stepping on each other.

Just a thought.... VMMV....

The LDS Church is looking for DBA's. You do have to be a Church member in

the law by saying you have to be a Church member. It's legal I promise! :-)

Hi Sanjay,
I have 2 old pcs setup on my home RAC test environment. Both of them
are 866 Mhz pentium 3 processors with 512 Mb RAM with two 10/100 Mbps
PCI ETHERNET NICs. I use crossover cable between the nics for private
interconnect. And for shared storage(a separate old hard disk) I use
iscsi. My OS is OEL 5.3  Initially, I installed RAC with base version
9.2.0.4 and later patched it to 9.2.0.8 and then upgraded it to 10.1
With 512 MB RAM, thats the max I can go. 10.2 requires minimum of 1GB
RAM. I'm the only user using the RAC, so you might have to plan the
load for 5-10 users.
