I have found that OOW has lots of fluffy, marketing-driven presentations.
Granted, I haven't gone in four years or so.

I've attended the Hotsos Symposium, and found that having lots of
world-class Oracle experts in one spot (particularly in an informal
setting) gives events like MOTS a HUGE advantage over things like OOW.

I usually pick up a couple of useful things at OOW, all will require lots
more research. Compare that to the 2 - 3 very useful things I will pick
up PER SESSION at MOTS... and most of the research, proofs, and
validation will already be done and provided in the presentations. The
money (way less of it) is much better spent at MOTS.

Thanks everyone,
I have been to Orlando OUG. I'm convinced that MOTS or OOW, or other
OUG is the way to spend my training money. Now I need to create a
convincing justification so. I have presenters, (for not OOW I have
price), many more subjects, more knowledgeable instructors.

I'll ramrod this through either way, but sales is not my forte, so...
good justification one liners eh? If not, ok. Thanks for the input
thus far.

Working on my English,

There is an opportunity for training, offsite training also. I was
thinking OpenWorld could work just as well if not better. I need to
write up justification and benefits for the training. I will have to
look at MySQL here shortly I believe for backup/recovery.

Can anyone comment on whether OpenWorld would be just as good if not
better than a 'course' out there. (I have not really gotten what I
wanted out of a lot of courses at oracle itself).

If so, then why?

Thank you,
