And using the perl Oracle distubutes in =
$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/perl/bin/perl yeilds:

Can't locate English.pm in @INC (@INC contains: =
/project/linux/902/APACHE/src/pdc_perl/bin/Linux/Opt/lib/5.00503/i686-lin=
ux /project/linux/902/APACHE/src/pdc_perl/bin/Linux/Opt/lib/5.00503
/project/linux/902/APACHE/src/pdc_perl/bin/Linux/Opt/lib/site_perl/5.005/=
i686-linux =
/project/linux/902/APACHE/src/pdc_perl/bin/Linux/Opt/lib/site_perl/5.005 =
.) at opatch.pl line 72.

So, even their steenking Perl distro needs to have Config.pm patched, =
but 'perl -V' yields:

Can't locate Exporter.pm in @INC (@INC contains: =
/project/linux/902/APACHE/src/pdc_perl/bin/Linux/Opt/lib/5.00503/i686-lin=
ux=20
/project/linux/902/APACHE/src/pdc_perl/bin/Linux/Opt/lib/5.00503 =
/project/linux/902/APACHE/src/pdc_perl/bin/Linux/Opt/lib/site_perl/5.005/=
i686-linux =
/project/linux/902/APACHE/src/pdc_perl/bin/Linux/Opt/lib/site_perl/5.005 =
.) at Config.pm line 2.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at Config.pm line 2.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted.

This is why I have never used the Perl that Oracle sends out. I build =
my own version on the DB servers and take it from there. But now, I =
think I am really hosed. I'm not enough of a Perl hacker to figure out =
how to hack Config.pm and make this work.

What a world!

I get a lot of garbage using perl 5.8.6. - '"my" variable %s masks =3D
earlier declaration in same scope at perl_modules/%s.pm'

Makes you wonder, huh?

Wanna see something interesting with opatch?
*nix: perl -cw $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/opatch.pl

Windoze: perl -cw %ORACLE_HOME%\opatch\opatch.pl

Anyone else have trouble with opatch and Perl 5.8.3?

Windows 2003
Perl 5.8.3
Opatch 1.0....52

Opatch either exits with an error code that is a very long negative =3D
number,
or just spits out its copyright information and quits.

Interestingly, installing Perl 5.0.00503 in OH/Apache cures the problem, =
=3D
as
the opatch.bat script will find it there and it runs happily.

5.8.3 seems to work fine on a Win2K box with the same version of opatch.
