Hi Tom,

I did not set the BASE_DIR. I really did it in a rather convoluted way; the
docs say there is a file called 'additional_agent.rsp' on the 'DVD'. I didn't
want to bother tracking that down when I already had the agent software staged
and ready to go. What I did was look online for a sample of the
'additional_agent.rsp' file, then merge that with the only .rsp file I could
find, 'agent.rsp'. I guess I must have missed the BASE_DIR. As you say, they
certainly don't go out of their way to make things convenient. On the flip
side, it's a little help to the old job security! Our solution was to blow
away the install, get the magic cookies squared away, and X worked.

Thanks - Chris

PS- I just read what BASE_DIR is... very easy to confuse with ORACLE_BASE,
despite the fact they've added the comment.

Chris,

In the response file, did you also set the BASEDIR environmental? It is at the
end of the file in my installation. It seems stupid to me that we need to set
two environmentals (and why in the world are they so far apart from each other
in the file?) but there you go.
I also wonder why in the world are all of the environmentals that they tell us
we need to update so spread throughout the sample file. Could they not have
been clustered together to make things easier for us?

Just curious.

Tom

why not uninstall it and install again in the right place?
