Whoops! True, I had tried to work up how big a table could be the other day
and I had the information about the number of files, number of tablespaces,
and affect of Oracle blocksize all rolling around in my head still. You
could have small partitions and place more than one per tablespace.
It should be noted that all these physical limits interact with each other
and the use of a small Oracle block size or a small standard file size when
laying out a database effectively limits the total size of objects that can
be supported by the database.

Mark,
A partition will reside in a tablespace and many partitions can reside in
the same tablespace so there is no correlation between the number of
partitions and the number of datafiles.
I've never tried to reach the documented 64K-1 limit myself but have had
over 1000 (3 years * day) runnning quite happily.
