So far it's happened twice, when we come in Monday mornings we cannot access
anything on the box - need to cold boot.

We have rman scripts and monitoring scripts that run every day - looking
into what "residue" these might leave on the box. also looking for orphan
processes of any sort, and any unnecessary oracle or linux processes.

At this point I'm really curious to see if anyone else has had issues
running RedHat ES (not AS), which Oracle says is fully certified, just like
AS. (Difference is basically the amount of memory each OS can handle - ES
is limited to 8Gb).

Bill - Does it crash at the same time each time, or just randomly? Check
with the cleaning people. Maybe they unplug it to use their vacuum. Okay,
that is an old one. One old technique is to try rebooting periodically and
see if that stops or reduces the problem.

Have been trying to diagnose an issue where our Linux ES server crashes over
the weekends. Have 10 8i and 9i databases on this box with plenty of RAM (8
Gb) and disk space -

Anyone come across issues with Linux ES?

Thanks
