What needs to be considered as well is how do you plan to use the Perl
install?

If you are going to install a few scripts that work with the modules already
installed
you should have no problems.

If however you think you may need to install other modules, and plan to
develop
other scripts, a 'private' install of Perl is much safer IMO.

For instance, if you installed a new copy of Perl at /u01/app/perl ( or
whatever
your standard is) you are then free to upgrade modules, upgrade Perl itself
and generally work on it with out fear of breaking any system or Oracle
scripts.
