Hi Robert,

I've just completed a GC install on Windows 2003. The OMS/OMR installation is essentially an application server installation - no OS group needed. The repository database uses the ORADBA group, but I think that the installer will create that group for you.

This is a list of doco that I've found useful (yes, there's Linux doco in it but some of the info is relevant for Windows too):

- ALERT Note 853691.1 – Important steps required for EMGC 10.2.0.5 upgrades
- Metalink Published Bug 8578406
- Metalink Note 464674.1 - Upgrade checklist
- Metalink Note 467677.1 – How to install grid control 10.2.0.4 to use an 11g database for the repository - Metalink Note 604520.1 – How to install GC 10.2.0.4 with an existing (10.2.x.x/11.1.0.6) database using the software-only option - Metalink Note 763351.1 - Documentation reference for GC 10.2.0.5 installation and upgrade) - Metalink Note 784963.1 – How to install GC 10.2.0.5 on EL5 using the existing database 11g option
- Metalink Note 787872.1 - GC 10.2.0.5 known issues
- Metalink Notes 428665.1, 1078864.1

Note that GC 11 is not yet available for Windows and GC 10.2 comes with desupported underlying software (DB, app server) which require a bit of extra effort.

Good luck! :)

Thanks.

That particular doc did not pop up in all the other docs I've looked at.

The install doc is at
http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/to_pdf?pathname=install.102/b31288.pdf&remark=portal+(Enterprise+Manager)

Skimming the document, I didn't see anything about install groups.

Morning all,

Getting ready to create/install a GC installation and I have a question on
user/group creation. From what I read in the documentation, it seems to me that
the groups they wanted created (OSDBA, OSOPER) etc, are a unix requirement.

I’m working in windows and the only thing I can find is to use the local
administrator account on the box to install the software, but nothing on what user
groups are needed.

So, for installing on windows, what groups do I need on the server housing the
OMS/OMR. And, do I need these same groups and users on any box where an agent
resides?

Thanks
