I'm using Wave.
I look at Wave as a collaborative document environment very different
from things like Buzz which is also mentioned in this message thread.
I'm currently exploring how my organization can use Wave as a
communication tool for technical staff during service outages as an
initial use case. It has some interesting possibilities there that
extend beyond things like a shared Google Doc, Skype, or Google Talk.
One unique feature of Wave is the threaded real-time conversation with
playback which I think can be very useful for documenting an event.
I'm looking forward to the integration into Google Apps - something
rumored for this year.
I'm also using Buzz and find it much more useful than Facebook and
Twitter for posting my quick thoughts on things and for sharing things
I read in Google Reader and my photos which I post on Picasa. Since I
live in Gmail and Reader and my friends are connected to me through
Gmail, Buzz works better for me than the other two services - since
many of my friends either do not have accounts there or just aren't
the sorts who bother to post much.
I find Twitter to be a bit of a mess and really only watch the trends.
And Facebook with all the inane Farmville junk got to the point where
it was a terrible annoyance and I've since deleted all my accounts -
it probably didn't help that most of my 'friends' there were casual
acquaintances and not people with who I have deep connectons - I'm
connected to my close friends, colleagues, and family through gmail
and, hence, Buzz offers me more potential to enhance those
connections. It remains to be seen how it will flesh out. One thing
I'm hoping to see them change - I hear they should soon - is the
creepy location part of Buzz mobile so that you have control over
whether it shows just your general location rather than the specific
location information they've been showing up to now.
