I will not call running perl, designed at core on Unix for Unix, a valid testbed for Windows vs Linux performance. :-) Also keep in mind that a test like that has very little real-world meaning. But hey, I'm not going to defend Windows. I prefer Linux. But I stand by what I said. Performance is not a function of the operating system. The impact that the actual o/s has on performance is negligble when looking at issues such as configuration, software design, implementation and so on. Anyone that thinks that deploying Oracle on Linux will result in a faster system than deploying Oracle on Windows on the same h/w platform, is sorely mistaken. -- Billy ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This e-mail and its contents are subject to the Telkom SA Limited e-mail legal notice available at http://www.telkom.co.za/TelkomEMailLegalNotice.PDF ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -- http://www.freelists.org/webpage/oracle-l
