The limitation I was referring to is actually on the queue depth.  It
defaults to 8 per LUN, but can be increased up to 256 to increase
throughput to high capacity arrays.  Here are some links for more info:

I've heard stories of some other hard limit built into the HPUX kernel
that limits IOPS/LUN to a certain capacity, however I have never
observed it myself and haven't been able to find any details on the web
so I'm not sure if that's true or not.
