First guess, is this an externally authenticated user?
Select authentication_type from dba_users where username = 'ORACLE';

Subject: Database user Oracle

Does anybody know as what is the significance of "oracle" user in the database.
I checked the default user list on Pete Security URL and also found that he
listed this user in his one of the doc with some default password. It is not
visible in all database but only in few database and so want to check as why it
is created in the database. Google failed to bring the result

TIA
Sanjay
