do you just need to move the data? Grid Control automates the movement of data
to ASM.

rconfig is the script in the docs that can do it also.

The problem with ASM is you must do verything with RMAN or SQL, or maybe it
wont be a problem if you are used to it

A CFS is obviously simpler since plain OS Commands can be used and not fancy
RMAN commands

If CFS is too expensive you can always use NFS with NetAPP

If you mean continue to use a cooked / Mounted Cluster File system (CFS) in
place of the RAW ASM devices for the RAC Database, e.g. Sun Shared QFS or the
Veritas Storage Foundation for Oracle RAC (SFRAC) Mounted CFS?

(This would allow continuing with the traditional datafiles)

Is Moving to & Managing the ASM Technology far more complex than the existing
CFS Solutions like QFS, Veritas for RAC?

  Cheers

I had similar thoughts I suppose. You have a 3TB system that you want to be
highly available. What then is the motivation for moving it from one storage
technology to another, especially another more complex one. There are a number
of filesystems that you can use for RAC databases and if you are in the market
for the hardware/dr etc that is necessary to support a highly available 3TB
system you likely won't have issues with paying for them.

  Why not stay with files?
What could be the approach to Convert a Large 3 TB NON-RAC Production
Database with Datafiles existing on cooked/Mounted Filesystem (UFS) to a 3
instance RAC using "ASM"?
