Can't drop a table, even as sysdba

SQL> SHO USER
USER is "SYS"
SQL> CREATE TABLE JUNK (JUNQUE NUMBER);
Table created.
SQL> DROP TABLE JUNK PURGE;
DROP TABLE JUNK PURGE

SQL> DESC SYS.JUNK
