There is one particular nasty bug with 9.2.0.4 with HP-UX 64bit, that causes
your instance to crash, and all kinds of nasty core dumps
check doc id 241160.1
there is a one off patch for it.
or it has been fixed in 9.2.0.5

Subject: Can one migrate from 8.1.7.4 straight to 9.2.0.4?

Oracle wants one to migrate first to 9.1, but can one go straight to
9.2.0.4 with out any issues?

Platform HP-UX 64bit.

Thanks.
