Hi all,
I have always set mine to a max of 8 chars. Today, by mistake, I set
it up to 11 and it worked just fine. My research pointed to some
evidence that an oracle_sid can actually be set up to 15 chars. Can
anyone confirm this at all?
The db_name parameter is limited to 8 characters (see* *tinyurl.com/5j8da6).
I think the length of the variable ORACLE_SID is OS dependent.
