==I've stumbled into a position where the customer has a legacy of using
SQLBackUp to manage backup activity on a number of databases yet to be
determined. If the previous incumbent has left any product ==documentation or
any design documents to indicate why they went this route, it has since been
misplaced.

==Has anyone any history with this product? Can someone point out a
presentation, URL, or part number for the product documentation so I don't have
to reverse engineer this thing?

I am unfamiliar with any BMC product of that name. There is a SQLServer backup
product from another vendor with a similar name.

However, sqlBACKTRACK is a very popular product from BMC used in a wide variety
of shops. It's a reliable, sound product.

Assuming you know it's a BMC product, and know it's backing up the database by
some means, a version and release level of the product should be in the header
or trailer of the logs.

If you can find the executable, BMC products typically return product name,
part and version number with the classic -v option.

If you cannot find any information or details about the backups, assuming there
are none, and proceed from there. I'd probably set up RMAN in that case.
