We've had several discussions over the past year that involved Oracle and
IBM people about the best way to handle various aspects of supporting the
Oracle database. Oracle did not give their blessing on using IBM Flashcopy
for backups. That being said, my IBM team said not only will they stand
behind using it, but they also will do the pushing on Oracle to lend support
if/when needed. So far the IBM team has been true to their word in pushing
Oracle on every other issue we encountered when we moved to the IBM z9.
Still, I'm leary of using something for disaster recovery that isn't blessed
by Oracle on a critical production database. Once bitten, twice shy.
