Anybody using RAID 6+2? ... Is BAARF still Valid ?

Folks

What is the meaning of "+2" in "6+2"?

I assume RAID 6+2 is a form of RAID 6.

(RAID 6 stores 2 sets of parity for each block of data and thus makes
writes even slower than RAID 5. )

Are the 2 Overheads of Parity Calculation & Write still significant even
when using High End SAN Boxes with large num of internal Controllers &
Large Write Cache?

Is BAARF still Valid for SANs?

Thanks indeed
