Secure path is also being used, so would pvlinks still be necessary, any idea?

Yes, those are some of the features listed in the HP doc's for why SLVM over 
ASM.
Just wondering though, has anyone done this ? The way I described in in my 
earlier post - is that how it would go down?

you some MPIO? Too many
