Scroll down to "Restrictions and Usage Notes". Looks like file does NOT
have to be offline.

Subject: A question on Block recovery

Hi All,

When we do the block recovery to fix block corruption, do the affected
datafile need to be taken OFFLINE?

Or will the datafile be unavailable to the users during the block
recovery?

My database is in 10g RAC (10.2.0.3.0) on a 4 Node RAC n Solaris 9 with
Netapp filers and Oracle Clusterware as clustering solution.

Thanks,
