9.2.0.7 RMAN blues

I took an RMAN backup of a database (just controlfile, no catalog) while
the database was 9.2.0.5. I then upgraded to 9.2.0.7. In the mean time, the
developers decided that the schema of things was better before and told me
to restore the database as it was. I was unable to do so, because RMAN
would tell me that it cannot find backup for approximately third of the files.
What's going on? I am about to open a TAR, but I am doing import at 5 AM and
that makes me grumpy.
