We're running a standby on oracle 8.
Monitoring is done using script files that connect to the standby, query the
v$ views and return a status to EM.

determine a way to monitor the status of the standby – archive gaps,
recovering or not, etc.
I think I’m going to have to write some host based scripts to do this which
is a huge PITA since this is on windows.
Google is not being much help this morning.
(Fyi – 8i database is for a legacy app that is in maintenance mode only)
