If the password was changed and then changed back, you will need to go through
the full process steps to change it.  This link will take you through the steps
and save me some typing... :)

I've had to go through this when someone reset the password without realizing
the impact...
Hope this helps!

I'm using an 11.2.0.1 database and I may just have to start over.  It only ran
for about 2 hours.  I was trying to figure out what it was telling me and I hit
the back button in the browser and got a page telling me that there was an
error.  I hit the back button again and I got a timeout in the browser.  From
that point on, all I got was a timeout page.

I used emctl status oms and it told me that the webtier was running, but that
the oms was not because the password was wrong.  I went into SQL*Plus and reset
the password to what it should have been (I don't know how it got changed) and
tried emctl start oms and then it complained about the repository mismatch.
That's where I'm at now.

I can dump it and start over, but I don't know how I got there to begin with.

Nial is correct. The syntax for 11g Grid Control are different.

What version of the database are you using?

From experience, I find it much faster just the start over from scratch versus
troubleshooting the beast.

Scott is correct for 11g - emctl is the tool to use for this version. I would
however check the likely environment variables carefully.
PATH,ORACLE_HOME,TNS_ADMIN etc.

I'm with Lyall, I believe you are looking for the opmnctl vs. the emctl for
your stand alone installation.
