Re: 10gR2, problem about Resource role

For us mortals - why would one need, let's say, CREATE SEQUENCE to
connect to database? Was it impossible in Oracle 5 or earlier to
connect without creating a sequence?
I assume CONNECT role was just given wrong name not reflecting its purpose.
