Even after a non-RAC install, you can recompile with the rac_on option with
the same code.

AFAIK, that is true for all supported unix flavours, windoze and OpenVMS.
Never tried RAC on mainfraims.

There is no separate 10G release on any Unix platform that requires
different Oracle software for the install is there?

All 10G installs check to see if a cluster is in place and then provide
the option for installing RAC automatically from the existing s/w
