Re: EMC_SAN + Shared APPL_TOP

Kind of depends on what EMC you're using. I'm a big fan of tuned NFS (e.g. NetApp, EMC Celerra, etc.) for shared APPL_TOP. NFS is simpler than SAN or iSCSI and the sharing is essentially built in. The application file system is not transactional, so RAID 5 or a proprietary multi-parity RAID config should be just fine, which will help maximize space. If your EMC supports NFS I would go that way.
