Thanks Anuar. I did use the edit context to change most of the values,
however it does not provide the ability to edit all values... hence had
no choice but to use the OS editor to make the addl changes.

Aldrin,

If you don't change the hostname in contexfile using editcontext
utility, you must do that. The syntax will prompt you the changes that
you want to make ex: hostname.

Thanks

Anuar

        Hi Atul,

Excellent info and appreciate your prompt response, however I
would like to clarify a few things before I proceed.

Here's what I had already done:

        1. Installed the 11.510.2 on the DB Tier with the seed database.
        2. Deregistered the database tier on the original DB Tier
Server.
        3. Generated the appsutil using the admake.... on the app Tier.
        4. Rename the original appsutil directory, unzipped the
apputil.zip on the DB Tier.
        5. Do I have to generate the context file using the info below?
If not why and when?

        2. Update the AutoConfig Context files (conditional)

If the Context file values have already been changed
previously and you had to manually remove the Tier server, then you can
skip this step

DB Tier: Create a new context file using the following
syntax:-

                        cd <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>/appsutil
                        perl ./bin/adclonectx.pl
contextfile=$CONTEXT_FILE

        Thanks,
        Aldrin

        Aldrin,

As you have moved DB Tier, You can create appsutil.zip via
admkappsutil.pl and bring it to database tier & make necessary changes
to xml file regarding database host & run autoconfig but that won't be
enough because of " Net Service Topology Model " . You have to
deregister your database & reregister your database . Steps to do so are
mentioned in 218089.1 Autoconfig FAQ Under Section Net Services Question

                Hi Folks,
A quick autoconfig question, I have moved the DB
(database files) Tier to a new OS platform. How does one reflect the
changes about the new host in the configuration files? Can the appsutil
directory be copied over to new server and the <context>.xml file edited
to reflect the new changes and then run adconfig?
                Currently using split config
                DB Tier -- Server A , App Tier B -- Server B {PLATFORM
X)
                Moved DB Tier to new server --- Server A1 {PLATFORM Y}

                Thanks,
